In 2012, serial entrepreneur Ali Niknam and a group of ambitious trailblazers set out to build the first real user-centric bank. With the launch of the bunq app in 2015, the bank of The Free was born, and we've been challenging the status quo ever since.

Tras la crisis económica, un grupo de personas con ambición y nuevas ideas decidió cambiar las reglas del juego. Así nació bunq.

Licencia bancaria en la UE
Un momento clave no solo para bunq, sino para todo el panorama financiero europeo: nos convertimos en el primer banco en recibir una licencia bancaria de la UE en los últimos 35 años.

Lanzamiento al público
Después de años trabajando en la infraestructura y desarrollando y probando nuestra app, por fin lanzamos bunq al público general. La respuesta fue clara: sorpresa, entusiasmo y muchas ganas de lo que estaba por venir.

Expansión por la UE
Tras empezar en algunos países europeos, decidimos abrir bunq a todos los mercados de la Unión Europea. Y esto no había hecho más que empezar…

bunq se convierte en unicornio
Cerramos la mayor ronda Serie A jamás realizada por una fintech europea. Con una inversión de 193 millones de euros y una valoración de 1.600 millones, dimos la bienvenida a nuestro primer socio inversor, Pollen Street Capital. Hemos venido para quedarnos.
